LONG ISLAND CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER CLARE ROSE
STAND UP FOR WORKING FAMILIES, BOYCOTT WALDNER'S BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTS
Waldner’s Business Environments, an office furniture dealer based in Farmingdale, NY has been around for 75 years. Yet despite years of profitability and a positive relationship with Teamsters Local 814, management at Waldner's has stated that starting June 30, 2017 they plan to terminate their entire Teamster crew of warehousemen, helpers and drivers and replace them with subcontractors.
Many of these workers at Waldner’s have been with the company for over twenty years, some over thirty years.
Waldner’s did not even make a good faith effort to negotiate a contract with the Union. Instead, the company walked away from the bargaining table after a single session, and to date has refused to discuss a new deal for the workers.
The Union has filed charges with the labor board, arguing that the company’s actions violate its obligations under federal labor laws.
Long Island families need good jobs now more than ever! Companies like Waldner's, that abandon the very workers who have helped make them profitable (just like at Clare Rose!) don't deserve our support.
On behalf of the hardworking members at Waldner’s, we are reaching out to you today to ask for your help. If you own or help run an organization on Long Island or anywhere in the tri-state area, we ask that you commit to not purchase any furniture from Waldner’s until this dispute is resolved.
The best way to help us is to email company president Meredith Waldner Stern at email@example.com, with a copy to me or 814's President Jason Ide (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com) letting Waldner's know you are soliciting bids for furniture and work elsewhere until this dispute is resolved.
