Michael Salvatore Romano, long time 814 member, passed away recently on Monday January 16th. A memorial was held today at Immaculate Conception Church in Astoria, Queens. In attendance were many family members, friends and former 814 co-workers including Local President Jason Ide, Organizer Julian Tysh, former 814 VP Mickey Flath, and several other former Sotheby's Teamsters who worked along side Mike for years.
Mike not only spent time on the list at Sotheby's but prior to that worked for years in the moving and storage industry as an extra, for Certified and other barns as well. He was lovingly known as "Mike Muscles" and he was a great guy with a great sense of humor. He was also not afraid to stand up to the company and defend his union brothers. He will be missed but he will definitely not be forgotten.
